Waiting
I'll wait with you, I'll stay with you,
And smoke another joint
And we could talk about our empty lives,
But you always miss the point
Test you pick-up lines on me,
I'll laugh and tell you, "Never!"
But play CDs and sing to me,
And I'll love you forever.
I'll pay my share of gasoline,
And buy the coffee once in a while
I'll wait with you; I'll stay with you,
And live life in denial
We'll turn the music up so loud
We can't hear ourselves think
And I'll whisper that I love you,
You'll ask "What?" and blink,
And I'll say, "Nothing! I'm sorry! Never mind!"
This wouldn't be a problem if only you weren't so kind
But you call me sweet and clever, or funny, smart, or nice
You'll always share your stash with me,
And ask for my advice,
And you'll let me be your punching bag
When she has let you down,
Then offer me apologies,
And in your arms I'll drown,
I'll wait with you, I'll stay with you,
And smoke another joint
I could ask you not to hurt me anymore,
But what would be the point?
I'd rather keep my mouth shut
And take your abuse once in a while
I'd rather stay with you always, and live life in denial
Who cares if you don't understand the messages I send?
Your basement is my world, and you're my only friend
So I'll gladly be the punching bag,
If that's what I must be
I'll wait with you, I'll stay with you,
And pray you fall for me
And sometimes I want to leave,
Because I know I'll lose my mind
And maybe I could leave, if only you weren't so kind...
