These Aren't My Shoes Productions
In 2003, Kellie Powell founded an independent theatre production company in
Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. The mission of These Aren't My Shoes Productions was to provide young
people with an opportunity to do subtle, thought-provoking, socially-conscious theatre, in the tradition
started by Josh Weckesser with Stick & Co. Productions. "Shoes" produced shows by Lee Blessing,
Richard Greenberg, and Casey Kurtti in their 2003 and 2004 seasons. In 2005, they partnered with
Jason Vales and the V Alternative Theatre Experience to present the Role Reversal One-Acts. As an
increasing number of company members moved away from the area, the role of the company gradually
changed.
Since 2000, Powell had been cultivating a priceless service for actors and theatre lovers,
The Monologue Database. In 2006, These Aren't My Shoes
Productions became an independent drama publisher. Electronic copies of plays by Kellie
Powell and Josh Weckesser are now sold to actors and theatre artists all over the world. Powell
decided to expand the company even further by offering editing and web design services in 2008.
Kellie Powell is currently living and writing in New York. Josh Weckesser is a lighting designer
in Chicago, and organizes the Josh Weckesser Dance Spectacular annually. If you are interested in
having your work published or produced by These Aren't My Shoes Productions, or if you are interested
in collaborating with the company in any way, please contact Kellie Powell.
We look forward to hearing from you.
